Event Details

The day centers around two guided, three-hour wildflower ID walks, led by wildflower enthusiast Ginny Jeffryes and The Rocks’ Senior Outreach Manager Nigel Manley. The walks take place on the historic Mile Path, which is typically off-limits to visitors, and discuss the property’s storied history, the array of plants growing there, and the forestry work done as part of The Rocks’ long-range forest management plan. Choose the morning walk, from 9 AM to 12 PM, or the afternoon walk, from 1 to 4 PM.

This year we will have three complementary wildflower workshops, with morning and afternoon time-slots, so visitors can make a day of it! Times for all workshops are TBD.

Sunprinting: Join The Rocks’ Program Director Scarlett Moberly to learn the
art of sunprinting. We’ll use gathered natural materials and photosensitive paper to create one-of-a-kind cyanotype prints to take home, and learn a little about the history of sunprinting and botanical science.

Working with Edible Wildflowers: Join Gracie Phillips of Heartsong Farm in Northumberland, NH to learn how to identify, process, and use edible wildflowers, such as violets and dandelions. Take home a delicious botanical suprise!

Gardening for Pollinators: Learn how to grow and cultivate your own pollinator garden to attract bees, butterflies and more, and the importance of pollinators in growing food. Any sized space can support pollinator populations — plant the seeds in this workshop to create your own container and take it home to start your own!

Sign up for the whole day or just part! Either way, we can’t wait to see you. Bring your own lunch, snacks, and water, as well as sunscreen and bug spray.
Learn more and reserve your spot here. Please note registrations will close Monday, May 27, 2024. Historically Wildflower Fest sells out very quickly!
