Event Details

Theatre UP announces auditions for its fall production, The Crucible, Arthur Miller’s fictional play based on the Salem witch trials. Auditions will be held at the Littleton Opera House at 2 Union St on Wednesday, July 23rd from 6:00 – 9:30 pm and Thursday, July 24th from 6:00 – 7:00 pm. Callbacks at 8:00 as needed.

The Story: In the Puritan community of Salem, Massachusetts, a servant girl accuses a farmer’s wife of witchcraft. One accusation spirals into many, uncovering a web of bigotry and deceit that changes their lives forever. This American classic reveals just how dangerous conformity and mass paranoia can become. The Crucible is both a gripping historical drama and an evergreen parable of contemporary society.

Casting Call: Auditioners are asked to prepare a one-minute contemporary dramatic monologue. Actors may be asked to read from the script. Details, full character breakdown, and the link to audition sign ups are available on our website www.theatreupnh.org. Audition appointments are required via the link on our audition page.

The Crucible will be directed by UP Artistic Director Andrew Lidestri. The show will rehearse and perform at the Littleton Opera House. Rehearsals begin August 27th and take place most Wednesday & Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Performance dates are November 7, 8, 9, 13 (school matinee), 14, 15 & 16.

The Crucible is presented by special arrangement with Broadway Licensing, LLC, servicing the Dramatists Play Service collection. (www.dramatists.com)
