Franconia Notch Area Winter Sports

Views from the Tram in Franconia NotchWinter brings an abundance of choices of activities to Franconia Notch. Spend your day racing down ski slopes or exploring the backcountry on a snowmobile. The area offers terrain parks, snow-tubing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing and more.

Within 45 minutes of Franconia, you will find downhill skiing at Cannon Mountain, Loon Mountain, Bretton Woods, Attitash/Bear Peak and Waterville Valley. Cross Country ski fans can kick and glide at Franconia Village Cross Country Trails, Loon Mountain, Bretton Woods, Sunset Hill House and Waterville Valley. There are miles of snow-shoeing trails available and a vast array of snowmobiling trails within a short drive. We guaranty that you will never run out of things to do outdoors here in the Franconia area.

Cannon Mountain
Located on Route 93 in Franconia Notch State Park, Cannon Mountain is a legend among skiers/riders in the Northeast not only for its terrain, but for its striking natural beauty.

With its heart-stopping "front five" and old-style New England trails and glades on Upper Cannon, the mountain has always been a favorite of advanced skiers and riders. Also, the Tuckerbrook family area offers 9 trails of lift-accessed terrain geared specifically to beginners and low intermediate skiers and riders. The area is separated from the rest of the mountain, offering an excellent learning experience.

With 97% snowmaking in support of 150 inches of natural snowfall annually, 55 trails for skiing and boarding, plus winter hiking and ice climbing, snowmobiling in Franconia Notch, Cannon Mountain is a blast.

Franconia Village Cross Country
Nestled in the heart of the White Mountains, the FRANCONIA VILLAGE XC SKI CENTER offers unparalleled scenic vistas amidst a variety of beginner to expert terrain. Ski, snowshoe and ice skate rentals, horse-drawn sleigh rides, lighted ice skating rink, sledding and tubing hill, outdoor Jacuzzi. The XC Ski Center is located at the Franconia Inn. Tel: (603) 823-7177. Located near the famous Cannon Ariel Tram, the museum offers a view of a fascinating collection of historic ski memorabilia, museum gift shop. Free admission. Open Memorial Day - Columbus Day and December 1 - March 31, 12-5 PM.

Snowmobiling
With over 100 miles of trails located in and near Franconia Notch State Park, the snowmobiling enthusiast can spend the day- or night- sledding in some of the most beautiful scenery in New England.
