Member-owned Littleton Consumer Cooperative Society, Inc. strives to serve the North Country of New Hampshire and Northeast Kingdom of Vermont by providing a broad range of high quality food products, offered at a fair price, with outstanding service. The Co-op exists to serve its members, not to make a profit for a large corporation. While membership is not required to shop at our store, our member-owners help govern the Co-op by electing our Board of Directors annually and contributing in other ways – from suggesting items for the store to serving as volunteers on Co-op committees. Our members also help us maintain the Co-op’s mission of supporting local growers and producers, encouraging healthy life choices, and promoting environmental sustainability locally. The movement to bring a regional cooperative food store to Littleton began in early 2006. The initial informational meeting, called by Co-op President Jeffrey Wheeler and Vice President Michael Claflin, drew an enthusiastic crowd of more than 300 people from Littleton and surrounding towns in both New Hampshire and Vermont. The Littleton Food Co-op Store opened in May, 2009. Our 13,500 square-foot store is located at the intersection of Route 302 and Cottage Street, making it convenient to both Littleton’s...

We are about more than beer and business, we are lifetime friends. Iron Furnace Brewing was founded by four north country guys that grew up less than a half mile from each other. We stayed close through college, were roommates afterwards and have remained tight-knit since. The brewery has been a dream since the early days but took some time to materialize. 2017 was the year it all came together! We were fortunate to find and fall in love with the Whitney building on Main Street and now call it home! We are eternally grateful to the community and our friends and family for the support. We are community focused and loyal to our roots, but still not afraid of change and experimentation. Our taproom will be a place to gather, for families and friends both old and new. Inviting, lively, comfortable and engaging is the environment that we want to produce. Our beers tend to be hop forward but we still have plenty of variety. Don’t be afraid to try something new and come explore with us! Current operating hours: Thursday: 4 - 9 pm Friday 3 - 9 pm Saturday 12 - 9 pm Sunday 12-6 pm We...

We believe “Food is Thy Medicine” and strive to grow healthy, non-GMO crops, without the use of pesticides. This year (2014) was our first growing season in many years. We have almost 12 acres in vegetable production. Crops ranged for six different types of lettuce to popcorn. Our main focus for the first year was the re-establishment of our farm stand and providing produce to our CSA members. The farm stand opened mid June and we began our Summer CSA at that time. We had a successful season and it was wonderful meeting our customers and discussing the farm with them. Over the course of the summer, we had over sixteen farm workers. The team worked really well together and performed many tasks such as seeding, weeding (a lot!), field prep, crop harvest, and operating the farm stand. For the 2015 season, we hope to expand our CSA membership significantly. We will have several CSA membership types to choose from and increase the flexibility of the CSA. We really enjoy this aspect of our farm and hope to grow it a lot. In addition, we plan to grow crops weekly for local area restaurants during the summer months. We will...

Historic St. Matthew’s is an Episcopal summer chapel in the White Mountains that holds Sunday services during July, August, and the first Sunday in September at 10:00am. This Chapel is one of New England’s most photographed Landmarks. Built in 1893 and originally painted dark red, the interior paneling and cathedral ceiling in natural wood has mellowed to a beautiful soft patina, Three of the stain glass window were brought from a church on Long Island; one attributed to Tiffany, and two others are equally exquisite representations of stain glass art work of that era. The Chapel’s delicate architectural design featuring very narrow width and very high steeple in this picturesque country setting draws photographers from everywhere. Inquiries for weddings or other special services for up to 125 persons are invited.
Set among the beautiful mountains of northern New Hampshire, The White Mountain School is a college preparatory boarding and day school for students in grades 9-12. Since our founding in 1886, we have remained true to the original focus of New England boarding schools: the development of mind, body and spirit. We develop the mind through our college preparatory curriculum and through a campus-wide ethos of inquiry and engagement in learning. We develop the body through sports and other physical activities, making full use of our spectacular natural setting. We develop the spirit through reflection, exploration of meaning and purpose, and service in the broader world. In the context of a traditional liberal arts curriculum, we engage students in authentic inquiry– asking and pursuing questions that matter to them. This inquiry process not only leads to enduring learning, it helps students develop the skills and habits essential for academic success. Our students learn how to frame a question, how to find and evaluate research resources, how to synthesize information, and how to formulate an argument. They develop habits of curiosity, collaboration, and persistence. In short, they become great learners.

Its historical building, dating back to the 1880s, is a landmark of American Jewish history, and it has been lovingly maintained and restored through the generosity of both residents and visitors. This synagogue, the only operating synagogue in North Country, is open full time from May through foliage season and for special events during the winter months. Bethlehem Hebrew Congregation began in a store front on Main Street early in the 20th century. The congregation bought and renovated the Episcopal Church on Strawberry Hill Road in the 1920s and began holding worship services there in the summer of 1928. In the 1990s the renovation of the synagogue building was one of the major undertakings of BHC under the initiative and management of President Margery ‘Moocho’ Salomon, the first woman to head the BHC Board of Trustees. Since that time, BHC has continuously held Shabbat, holiday, and High Holy Day services, celebrations of life cycle events, and youth and adult programs. A board of trustees was given responsibility for management of the house and its associated programs, and from 1977 through 2005 teacher and scholar Donald Sheehan served as executive director. In 2010 the trustees appointed poet Maudelle Driskell as Sheehan’s successor. (Read more about David Schaffer and the founding of The Frost Place in this article). Since 1977, The Frost Place has awarded a fellowship each summer to an emerging American poet, including a cash stipend and the opportunity to live and write in the house for several months. In addition, The Frost Place has sponsored an annual Festival and Conference on Poetry for writers seeking classes and workshops with a faculty of illustrious poets, a teachers’ conference, and an advanced seminar. Our mission is to collect, conserve, and exhibit elements of ski history for research, education and inspiration. We have operated our Museum at Franconia Notch State Park since December, 1982 and welcome thousands of visitors each year. Whether online or in person, we encourage you to enjoy our stories from the history of skiing. With the end of ski season at Cannon Mountain on April 9, 2016, the Museum is closed until Friday, May 27, 2016. Staff will be checking email and responding to voicemail during this period, and may be on site at times. Please visit us after May 27! Our permanent exhibition is From the First Tracks to the Fall Line: eight thousand years of skiing. It presents a timeline of the development of skiing from its prehistoric roots up until the advent of the shaped ski in the 1990s, and includes local aspects of ski history with national implications such as several important ‘firsts’ at Cannon Mountain, and the career of area native Bode Miller.
