Lafayette Recreation

Lafayette Recreation serves the residents of Franconia, Easton and Sugar Hill. The Dow Park and Field, in the heart of Franconia, supports the best and busiest recreation program in the North Country all 4 seasons.  Most of the family fun, entertainment and year-round activities happen around the fields and at the gazebo, all at the foot of the Mountains of Franconia Notch State Park and the Kinsman range. Lafayette Recreation sponsors events that draw competitive recreation for all ages, bringing recreation and sports enthusiasts of all ages from near and far to participate and compete in signature events such as the White Mountain Triathlon, Top of the Notch Triathlon, Annual  Halloween Cup Area Youth Soccer Tournament, Old Home Day 5K Color Scramble, Thanksgiving Day Wobble ‘n Gobble, The Longest Night in December, and First Night at Ski Hearth Farm, many utilizing the best of Echo Lake, the State Park’s recreation trail, Cannon Mt. and more.  Follow this link lafayetterecreation.weebly.com for a schedule of 2018 events.  A regulation ice skating rink is maintained by Lafayette Recreation across from the Dow Field, by the Town Hall and Abby Greenleaf Library.  Swimming/tubing in Summer – The Gale River runs right thru town, parallel to Main Street beside the Dow Field!  The recreation program sustains youth sports through the Lafayette Regional School and a full summer program.

Franconia Parks and Recreation is a member the Franconia Area NEMBA (New England Mountain Bike Association) that maintains a stewardship and promotes the extensive trail networks in Franconia, Easton, Sugar Hill, Bethlehem, and Littleton. These valley trails extended out into the foothills that separate these communities and ultimately beyond, reaching up to our region’s most well-known and higher White Mountains.
